The FIX32 SCADA system (originally provided by Intellution and latterly by GE Intelligent Platforms) and the Mitsubishi MX32 OEM version have not been developed since 1999 but are still widely used by manufacturers globally. Therefore, it is highly unlikely they will be compatible with modern operating. Intellution FIX32 and iFIX Eurotherm provides an OPC Server that can be used to interface a LIN network to any 3rd party OPC client OPC Data Access 2 server. The interface requires that the Intellution FIX MMI software version 6.x (or FIX32 version 7.0) or later or FIX Dynamics HMI/SCADA version 1.0 or later (or iFIX version 2.1) be present on the same PC as the interface. SCADA support does not need to be enabled in order for this interface to run.

Acutally, it is more than a reporting tool. It can also archive your process data. Currently this toolkit supports Intellution Fix32 and iFix. It works as a data tunnel between Fix32/iFix and Microsoft Excel. Basically, this toolkit grabs data (real-time or historical data) from Fix32/iFix and then inserts them into MS Excel cells as being configured. The core of this toolkit consists of dozens of executable programs, which can be called inside Fix32 scripts, iFix VAB scripts, externally customized program or even manually through command prompt. This flexibility makes it more user-friendly. However, formally they should be called in a scheduler program like iFix Scheduler so that the reporting process can be fully automated. This toolkit maintains its own timer, counter and register, which will enable users to build more intelligent reports. This toolkit also comes with log file, which will help you with trouble shooting. You know, it is a tool. Depending on how you use it, it may become very powerful! Why shall I try it? Okay, here is what I think: 1)It is cheap. Forget about Oracle and SQL Server. They are deadly expensive plus unpredictable maintenance expense. Try the software you use everyday and see how much it can save you; 2)You can get a very powerful front-end (user interface). You know the charting function in Excel, you know the flexible format in Excel, and you know powerful macro in Excel. Don't you? If not, give it a try. You can utilize all those powerful tools in Excel for your data storage and reports; 3)Everybody is familiar with Excel. Logically maybe I shall not say everybody. But you know what I mean. You boss does not need to learn new software in order to understand your reports. Shouldn’t you get credit out of it? 4)It is easy to configure. Just take a look at the samples and you will know what I mean. . There is one more reason- it is free.
Although I trust my own software, I will NOT be responsible for any damage caused by the mis-operation, etc. Please use it with your discretion. However, since most functions are read-only ( I mean they don't change process values in Fix/iFix. 'FixSetStringVal.exe' and 'FixSetDigitalVal.exe' are exceptional), it would be safe to use this toolkit!
